Born in Aleppo in 1980, he studied political science at Rushd University in Istanbul and has been involved in relief work through local initiatives since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution. After leaving Syria in 2012, he continued his civic and humanitarian activities, with a particular focus on advocating for the Syrian people at the local and international levels. As the refugee crisis worsened, he devoted his efforts to defending and highlighting the issues of Syrian refugees in international meetings and forums. He participated in numerous meetings and conferences with regional and international governments and international organisations, advocating for the protection of refugee rights, strengthening the visibility of their cause, and highlighting the challenges they face.
He took an oppositional stance against the Assad regime since the early days of the revolution and later founded the Common Space Initiative with a group of colleagues. He held several positions there, including member of the Political Bureau and Head of the Initiative’s European Office, before being elected Secretary-General.
